About this retreat
This is a deeply relaxing and invigorating raw food retreat that focuses on Yoga and a diet of high vibration living foods including raw, steamed & superfoods to enhance health and energy. Raw food in your daily diet can help with long-term weight management. You will be introduced to a wide variety of superfoods which are nutrient-rich to delight the palate and nurture your body, including spirulina, maca, hemp, acai, chia, bee pollen & barley grass. We share with you up-to-date nutritional facts about foods that supercharge your immune system, as well as foods that boost your mood and energy levels. The raw superfood diet promotes long-term weight control and helps reduce cravings. Our chef welcomes you to watch and learn in the kitchen.
Kaliyoga Spain is located 1.5 hours from Malaga airport, in the stunning Sierra Nevada mountains, in the Alpujarra region of Granada province. The Alpujarras are renowned for its verdant microclimate, waterfalls, gorges, Moorish villages & shaded valleys. One of the finest walking areas in southern Europe, the Alpujarras have been certified by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.
Gourmet Raw Food
The food at Kaliyoga will delight and amaze you. You will feast on raw cuisine every day and you can expect super taste sensations from simple ingredients. Culinary highlights include healthy snack ideas, sinfully delicious desserts, and raw chocolate. With three generous meals per day, you will never go hungry. Our super talented nutritionists are happy to suggest alternative ingredients if you have an intolerance to foods that could lead to an allergic reaction.
To make the most of your raw food retreat we recommend that you follow a healthy diet for 7 days before arrival, cutting out or at least reducing all meat, dairy, wheat, alcohol, coffee, refined sugar, potatoes and processed foods. Prepare your meals at home based on fruit, vegetables, eggs, whole grains, rice cakes, organic fish, avocados, nuts, seeds, tahini.
Time to yourself
You are welcome to sunbathe by the pool, read in a hammock, catch up on some guilt-free sleep, or go for a walk in the beautiful Alpujarra mountains (we have walking maps, or a walking guide can be arranged). If you want to sleep-in and miss a yoga class, that’s fine too.
Yoga and meditation
Under the expert guidance of our fabulous in-house teachers, you will discover that yoga can be a tool not only for improving health and fitness but also for deep rest and mindful relaxation. During the week we give you the tools and confidence to build a self-practice that you can develop at home. Our yoga method can be applied to all styles of yoga because, rather than focusing solely on stretching and shape-making, we teach you to balance your physical stability and strength with mindful tranquility. So, rather than trying to perfect the external shapes of yoga, you’ll begin to experience yoga as meditation in motion. In the mornings there will be a 2-hour yoga class, preceded by a guided half-hour meditation and in the evenings 1.5 hours. The week culminates with a fun partner yoga session on Friday evening and a self-practice session on Saturday morning. Because we teach yoga as mindfulness (as opposed to a type of exercise), we do not grade you in terms of your ability. Everyone is welcome, whether novice or experienced.
We are delighted to introduce you to our hand-picked team of world-class holistic therapists, available every afternoon to attend to your needs. They can help you to free yourself from whatever might be holding you back; and most importantly of all, the powerful combination of yoga classes and holistic therapy sessions re-connect you with the wonderful person that you really are, rather than who you think you ‘should’ be. When you return to Kaliyoga, you will be eligible for a free holistic relaxation session with the therapist of your choice, subject to availability.
Evenings can be quite social, though if you prefer to be quiet, that’s ok too. There is a warm sitting room with a cosy snug to curl up in and relax with a good book; or why not go for an evening stroll in the countryside, or stroll into town (about 20 mins on foot).
