About our Yoga and Cycling Retreat in Italy
A relaxing 6-night getaway with yoga, cycling, amazing food and good company.
Inspirational yoga classes are guided by Tashi Dawa, every morning and evening, plus 3 optional early morning meditations.
Each bike ride is about 30 km long – up to 5 hours in the saddle – with scheduled scenic stops en route for lunch, exploring, rest and ice-cream! We ride out for 2 days with a rest day in between.
On route we see Puglia’s iconic Trullo houses, olive terraces, gentle rolling hills, historic Masserias and stone age caves. We also take you to the beautiful Torre Canne coastal dune park with its incredible history and stunning views.
You don’t need to be an athlete, but a reasonable level of fitness is recommended to tackle the distance and modest hills.
We provide you with a quality touring bike and a cycle helmet. Please bring a small backpack to carry your picnic lunch and water. For your additional comfort, we recommend bringing a pair of padded cycle shorts.
If cycling is not your thing, you can opt out and still enjoy the yoga program. There are maps of local walks for you to enjoy and even a (very grateful) dog to walk.

Kaliyoga yoga and cycling retreat is located in the stunning Itria Valley in Italy, one hour South of Bari, in the garden province of Puglia – voted for three years by National Geographic as the most beautiful place in the world. The Masseria Pavone is a farmhouse that dates back to the sixteenth century with either single, shared or double accommodation in lovingly restored ‘Trulli’ protected by UNESCO as heritage sights.
This place is so breathtakingly beautiful it has to be seen to be believed.
Yoga and meditation
Under the expert guidance of our fabulous in-house teacher Tashi, our yoga and cycling retreat is about coming home to yourself. Here you will discover that your yoga practice can be a tool not only for improving health and fitness but also for deep rest and mindful relaxation.
During the week, Tashi gives you the tools and confidence to build a self-practice that you can develop at home. Our yoga method can be applied to all styles of yoga because, rather than focusing solely on stretching and shape-making, we teach you to balance your physical stability and strength with mindful tranquility. So, rather than trying to perfect the external shapes of yoga, you’ll begin to experience yoga as it was originally intended.
Because we teach yoga as mindfulness (as opposed to a type of exercise), we do not grade you in terms of your ability. Everyone is welcome, whether novice or experienced.
Gourmet Vegetarian Food
The food at Kaliyoga will delight and amaze you. Our gourmet vegetarian cuisine is light, gluten free, vegan/coeliac friendly and absolutely delicious. And with three generous meals per day, you will never go hungry. Our super talented nutritionists will happily work around most food allergy issues.
Yoga and Cycling Retreat – Things to see and do
Kaliyoga is located just 10 minutes away from the beautiful Baroque town of Martina Franca, which you can explore either on foot or by bicycle. Or for those who wish to simply lie in a hammock all week or swim in the pool, that’s fine too.
If you enjoy more exercise before or after your yoga class, you can go for a run along the country lanes or a bike ride up the steep hill to Locorotondo for some homemade stracciatella ice-cream.
One afternoon you have the opportunity to enjoy an inspiring cookery workshop on either ‘Raw Power Vegetarian Cuisine’ or Italian ‘Yogi-tarian’ Ayurvedic cuisine depending on the nutritionist’s availability.
The workshop is two hours in duration and focusses on the creation of a whole meal.
Meal examples include raw zucchini lasagna, veg stuffed gluten-free pastry, raw blueberry cheesecake
Cost per person 25 EU – four person minimum.
We are delighted to introduce you to our hand-picked team of world-class holistic therapists, available every afternoon to attend to your needs. They can help you to free yourself from whatever might be holding you back; and most importantly of all, the powerful combination of yoga classes and holistic therapy sessions re-connect you with the wonderful person that you really are, rather than who you think you ‘should’ be.
When you return to Kaliyoga, you will be eligible for a free holistic relaxation session with the therapist of your choice, subject to availability.
Wednesday Free Time
After the Wednesday morning yoga class, we serve brunch which is a larger meal than the usual breakfast. Options for the rest of the day include a trip to a local beach (about 35 mins by car) where you can sunbathe & swim – depending on the weather, naturally.
On cloudy days, we can arrange a trip to the lovely old towns of Polignano A Mare and Alberobello where you can shop, wander, and explore the many delights of the local Trullo architecture. Alternatively, you may borrow one of our bicycles and explore the country lanes, or walk into one of the two local Baroque towns (approx 20 mins walking).
In the evening, we arrange a taxi to take you into Martina Franca (10-minute taxi ride) where you may dine at a delicious local restaurant. But if you prefer to stay at home and rest, we will provide you with a light evening meal.
Evenings are your own to retreat or socialise as you wish. We have two sitting rooms for you to curl up and relax with a good book or go for an evening stroll with Tommy our lovely mountain dog.
On two evenings we offer optional chanting sessions in the Masseria’s vaulted living room. The acoustic is out of this world.
