Ski and Yoga Holiday in France

April 11-18 : A week of Skiing & Yoga

Luxurious Chalet in the High French Alps

Hosted by Jonji & Rosie, founders of Kaliyoga

This is a ski-yoga holiday that is perfect for anybody who want to improve their skiing confidence and skills without the penance of having to keep up with faster partners. This is a heavenly environment in which to satisfy your desire for the ultimate in skiing and of course fantastic yoga, delicious food, a sauna, optional massage, sun bathing, shopping and lots of fun.

Furthermore we will drive you to the slopes and take you skiing each day. We have three experienced ski hosts and will divide ourselves into different ability groups. This ensures you find the best snow and the most suitable slopes. We ski in Ste Foy, Val D’Isere, Tignes, La Rosiere, Les Arcs and La Plagne. Where we ski is determined by snow and weather conditions. Ski hosting is free and all these resorts are between 5 and 15 mins drive from the chalet. We can arrange ski lessons and off piste guiding and we arrange for your hired skis and boots to be delivered to the chalet.

The chalet has ten en-suite bedrooms, all decorated to a high standard. They have been recently refurbished and they feature oak floors, designer wallpaper and new beds. The bathrooms are Italian slate and oak with heated floors and luxurious bath/shower combos. There is also a new sauna and spa area. On the top floor there is a huge open plan living space of around 180m2 (1800 square feet) with a log fire and incredible views down the valley and to the surrounding ski resorts. This is one of the biggest and most dramatic living areas in the Alps - and it's perfect for yoga classes.

The Chalet is situated 300 metres from the main road that links Tignes, Val D’Isere, Bourg St Maurice and St Foy. The beauty of its location is that each day we can ski a different resort, ensuring that you never ski the same run twice. The local village is called Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise.

The chalet is located in one of the best snow-sure playgrounds in Europe and probably enjoys the best skiing in the world. The high altitude and microclimate ensure a long ski season until May, with snow generally down to resort level. Continued investment in a state of the art lift system ensures that you never queue.

Scrumptious Food

The chalet's own cook prepares a continental and cooked breakfast each morning before we head out skiing. Upon our return we warm up in front of the fire with tea, biscuits and cakes. Canapés are often served prior to dinner with a glass of champagne or soft drinks whilst discussing the days adventures.

Meals are first class quality, as you would expect, including a cooked breakfast and 4 course supper. We lunch out on the slopes. The chef takes care of all dietary requirements and can create a delicious vegetarian banquet where applicable, so veggies won't be thrown a bit of tofu! The staff have a night off mid-week and we will use this opportunity to to dine out in Val d'Isere..

Yoga and Skiing
Yoga complements skiing beautifully because the movement and positions required in yoga can benefit skiers and help reduce the physical demands of the sport. Both disciplines share a common need for balance, flexibility and focus.By being able to concentrate on your breathing, transitioning your movements with grace, and cultivating an awareness of body balance and alignment, any level of skier will get more out of their time on the mountain and be less injury prone. For example, skiing strengthens the major leg muscles, but also shortens them, and yoga helps to stretch them out again, releasing tension from tight knees, hips and quads. Complementary muscle groups are used in yoga to improve balance, deepen concentration, extend flexibility and boost stamina. Think of yoga as your insurance against injury and one of the best ways to improve your skills on the slopes. You will derive more satisfaction from your skiing by combining it with yoga.
Daily Schedule

There will be a lively morning yoga session in the chalet, followed by a full breakfast and then off to the snow. We follow the sun around the mountain until 2pm, then we have a light lunch on the slopes. After lunch, keen skiers have the option to ski until teatime whilst others may wish to head back to enjoy the sun at the chalet, allowing time for an optional sauna or massage.

If you prefer a more leisurely approach to your holiday, you're free to have a lazy morning at the chalet, maybe go shopping in Val d'Isere, then head back in time for a sauna and hear all about the day's adventures.

Travel to France / Getting to the Chalet
FLY
The quickest option is by plane to Geneva. To take advantage of our free airport transfer to the chalet, please arrive before 12 noon.

DRIVE
Driving gives you maximum independence. It is a legal requirement to have chains in your car. A 4x4 is a definite advantage too. From the port of Calais it takes about ten hours and the road is motorway nearly all the way. In fact, the first traffic light you come to is your destination: Bourg St Maurice!

TRAIN
Eurostar direct to Bourg St Maurice is perhaps the most relaxed way to travel, though the service only runs on Friday night and Saturday morning. Take the Eurostar from London (or Ashford) to Paris and then change to a Bourg train. This can allow for a day in Paris on the way there or back. We can collect you by car from Bourg.
