MEDITATION - the search for wholeness
We know that all sensory experience is fleeting and impermanent - feelings, thoughts, memories, sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch, mental conditions - they all come and go. The big question is: is there anything truly permanent and tangible that we can rely on, with absolute cetainty? Authentic practice of yoga and meditation are our tools for living in harmony, free from confusion and illusion. Meditation opens the mind in order that we may 'see' beyond our mind, even beyond our sub-conscious mind, to the source of all action: Unconditional Love. Also known as wisdom, the absolute, presence, god, super consciousness. This form of practice is known as Vipassana, which literally means 'in-sight practice'. It is certainly not religious, though it may support people in their quest for truth. With insight meditation we open our minds to the way things are, to experience the simple truth that is hidden within everything: unconditional reality. Being awake to unconditional reality is not a matter of becoming that way, but actually being that way right now. The truth exists within all of us, now and always. The so-called path of seeking wholeness is infact a circle - we come back to where we started, only to realise that the unconditional truth of being was here all the time, even before we began to ask questions. Meditation pactice is capable of freeing us from our habitual belief in the appearance of things, including our emotional attachment / aversion to people, things, events, ideas. Experiencing our pure essence is the aim of yoga and meditation. With practice we find that our thoughts and impressions cannot disturb the pure and simple delight of being. Meditation is not about analysing, or thinking to find any conclusions about life. By simply keeping the mind continuously focused on the sensations of the body (like the coming and going of the breath), we witness the arising and passing away of all phenomena. The witnessing presence is our permanent essence, our inner wisdom, our soul. Discovering this 'Open Secret' is the goal of life.
