What is Laughter Yoga?
Laughter Yoga is a revolutionary idea simple and profound. An exercise routine, it is sweeping the world and is a complete wellbeing workout. The brainchild of Dr. Madan Kataria, who launched the first Laughter Club in 1995. Laughter Yoga is now a worldwide phenomenon with more than 6000 Laughter Clubs in about 60 countries.
Laughter Yoga combines unconditional Laughter with Yogic Breathing (Pranayama). Anyone can Laugh for No Reason, without relying on humor, jokes or comedy. Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group. With eye contact and childlike playfulness, it soon turns into real and contagious Laughter. The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real Laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits.
During your week at Kaliyoga there will be two daily laughter yoga classes (practice and theory) and also some dynamic yoga asana and open heart meditation. All meals are included (low lactose & low wheat). The Laughter Yoga course with leadership certification is led by Jamie Chick, certified Laughter Yoga teacher and Hatha Yoga teacher. Open Heart Meditation is led by Reiki master Gerard Laracy.
The Business of Laughter
The business world is becoming aware of the potential of Laughter Yoga, thanks to two scientific studies in 2006. Overwhelmingly positive results revealed significant reductions in heart rate, blood pressure and cortisol. Positive emotions increased by 17% and negative emotions dropped by 27%. Perceived stress dropped significantly. Alexithymia (inability to express feelings with words) dropped by almost 9%, indicating a significant improvement in emotional intelligence.
Kaliyoga is famous for great yoga tuition and delicious food and also for the generous, loving people who work here. Spontaneity and fun are part of the Kaliyoga vision, so there will be opportunities for dancing, walking, horse riding, shopping at the open air market... etc.
At the end of the course there will be a presentation ceremony and celebration.
