You may find that your yoga retreat is already full enough with two daily yoga classes and meditation and swimming in the pool and sunbathing and reading a good book, or relaxing in the jacuzzi.
These are some of the activities that will be available (subject to season and availability).
Cycle Tour in the Parco Dune Costiere
Enjoy a gentle bike ride through the coastal dunes natural park near the Adriatic coast. On this tour you will visit several "masseria" (typical local farms) each of which specialises in a different local produce. Your guide will explain the distinctive histories, architecture and the specific function and purpose of each Puglian farmhouse.
As you cycle through this stunning nature reserve you will stop for a tour of a masseria that specialises in olive oil production and visit a cheese-making farmhouse where you will have the opportunity to buy local fresh cheeses. There will be a stop en route for rest, toilets and refreshments.
Walking and Cycling in the Itria Valley
Kaliyoga Italy is situated in one of the most striking landscapes of Puglia: the Itria Valley. It is a landscape that is bright and elemental with endless dry-stone walls, neat vineyards and ancient olive trees spiraling up from dark red soil and punctuated by the distinctive coned roofs of the trulli houses.
In your free time you can walk or cycle across this gently rolling countryside towards local towns Martina Franca (3 km) or Locorotondo (4 km). Take some time to explore these two beautiful Baroque towns, visit the shops, wander through the weekly market or just stop and relax with a coffee or ice cream.
Visit Ostuni - La Città Bianca
Spend the afternoon visiting this historic Puglian town, which is known locally as "The White City" because of its dazzling white maze of streets. Wander the labyrinthine lanes and alleyways, rest in the piazzas and enjoy the vista below of ancient olive groves tumbling down towards the Adriatic sea.
Ostuni was founded by Greeks in the 1st Century BC and still retains much of its Greek influence and in parts you can imagine yourself wandering in a small village in the Cyclades. Over time this rustic style has been embellished with Baroque additions and flourishes which all add to the fantastical feel of this hill-top town.
When you have finished roaming the old streets you can visit the shops to buy gifts or take a rest in one of the many bars and restaurants.
Visit the beach
In the hot summer weeks spend your Wednesday afternoon relaxing on the beach. Yoga in Sanskrit means to ‘yoke’, to yoke together or to bring into union the body, breath and mind in the present moment... so continue your retreat experience with a few hours perfecting wholeness under the warm Puglian sun!
