About this retreat

A Mindful Vinyasa week includes guided meditation classes, world-class yoga classes - twice a day - that will inspire you to develop a personal self-practice for long-term physical, mental and spiritual well-being.  Our yoga classes are suitable for absolute beginners as well as experienced yoga practitioners. The methodology that we use can be applied to all yoga styles - from Bikram to Iyengar.

 

Location

Kaliyoga Italy is located in the stunning Itria Valley, one hour South of Bari, in the garden province of Puglia - voted for three years by National Geographic as the most beautiful place in the world. The Masseria Pavone is a farmhouse that dates back to the sixteenth century with either single, shared or double accommodation in lovingly restored ‘Trulli’ protected by UNESCO as heritage sights.

This place is so breathtakingly beautiful it has to be seen to be believed.

 

About the yoga and meditation

Under the expert guidance of our fabulous in-house teacher Tashi, this retreat is about coming home to yourself. Here you will discover that your yoga practice can be a tool not only for improving health and fitness but also for deep rest and mindful relaxation.

During the week, Tashi gives you the tools and confidence to build a self-practice that you can develop at home. Our yoga method can be applied to all styles of yoga because, rather than focusing solely on stretching and shape-making, we teach you to balance your physical stability and strength with mindful tranquility. So, rather than trying to perfect the external shapes of yoga, you’ll begin to experience yoga as it was originally intended.

Because we teach yoga as mindfulness (as opposed to a type of exercise), we do not grade you in terms of your ability. Everyone is welcome, whether novice or experienced.

 

Gourmet Vegetarian Food

The food at Kaliyoga will delight and amaze you. Our gourmet vegetarian cuisine is light, gluten free, vegan/coeliac friendly and absolutely delicious. And with three generous meals per day, you will never go hungry. Our super talented chefs will happily cater for your nutritional requirements.

 

Things to see and do

Kaliyoga is located just 10 minutes away from the beautiful Baroque town of Martina Franca, which you can explore either on foot or by bicycle. Or for those who wish to simply lie in a hammock all week or swim in the pool, that’s fine too.

If you enjoy more exercise before or after your yoga class, you can go for a run along the country lanes or a bike ride up the steep hill to Locorotondo for some homemade stracciatella ice-cream.

One afternoon you have the opportunity to enjoy an inspiring cookery workshop on either ‘Raw Power Vegetarian Cuisine’ or Italian ‘Yogi-tarian’ Ayurvedic cuisine depending on chef availability. The workshop is two hours in duration and focusses on the creation of a whole meal. Meal examples include raw zucchini lasagna, veg stuffed gluten free pastry, raw blueberry cheesecake

Cost per person 25 EU - four person minimum.

 

Holistic Relaxation

We are delighted to introduce you to our hand-picked team of world-class holistic therapists, available every afternoon to attend to your needs. They can help you to free yourself from whatever might be holding you back; and most importantly of all, the powerful combination of yoga classes and holistic therapy sessions re-connect you with the wonderful person that you really are, rather than who you think you ‘should’ be.

When you return to Kaliyoga, you will be eligible for a free holistic relaxation session with the therapist of your choice, subject to availability.

 

Wednesday Free Time

After the Wednesday morning yoga class, we serve brunch which is a larger meal than the usual breakfast. Options for the rest of the day include a trip to a local beach (about 35 mins by car) where you can sunbathe & swim - depending on the weather, naturally. On cloudy days, we can arrange a trip to the lovely old towns of Polignano A Mare and Alberobello where you can shop, wander, and explore the many delights of the local Trullo architecture. Alternatively, you may borrow one of our bicycles and explore the country lanes, or walk into one of the two local Baroque towns (approx 20 mins walking). In the evening, we arrange a taxi to take you into Martina Franca (10-minute taxi ride) where you may dine at a delicious local restaurant. But if you prefer to stay at home and rest, we will provide you with a light evening meal.

 

Evenings

Evenings are your own to retreat or socialise as you wish. We have two sitting rooms for you to curl up and relax with a good book or go for an evening stroll with Tommy our lovely mountain dog.

On two evenings we offer optional chanting sessions in the Masseria's vaulted living room. The acoustic is out of this world.

About this retreat

Every morning and evening you will experience the same inspirational guided yoga classes as offered on our Mindful Vinyasa weeks, in our beautiful yoga shala, with optional meditation sessions offered pre-class three mornings per week.

With cycling, you can enjoy a week of keeping fit with exhilarating bike rides through the enchanting Pugliese countryside. Hosted by our wonderful and experienced bilingual guide Daniele, you will enjoy two whole days out on the bike with a rest day in between. Each bike ride is about 30 km long with up to 5 hours spent cycling, with scheduled scenic stops en route for lunch, exploring, rest and ice-cream!

Daniele will show you the area’s iconic Trulli houses, olive terraces, gentle rolling hills, historic Masserias and stone age caves. You will also explore the beautiful Torre Canne coastal dune park with its incredible history and stunning views. We will provide you with a packed lunch and snacks to keep you fuelled for your ride.

You don't need to be an athlete, but a reasonable level of fitness is recommended to tackle the distance and modest hills.

We provide you with a quality touring bike and a cycle helmet. Please bring a small backpack to carry your picnic lunch and water. For your additional comfort, we recommend bringing a pair of padded cycle shorts.

If cycling is not your thing, you can opt out and still enjoy the yoga programme. There are maps of local walks for you to enjoy and even a (very grateful) dog to walk.

About Alessandra, our Raw Food Chef

Alessandra, our fully qualified and highly creative raw food chef turned her health around and changed her life with raw food. She will inspire you to do the same, with plenty of time for questions during each meal.

During the week, Tashi gives you the tools and confidence to build a self-practice that you can develop at home. Our yoga method can be applied to all styles of yoga because, rather than focusing solely on stretching and shape-making, we teach you to balance your physical stability and strength with mindful tranquility. So, rather than trying to perfect the external shapes of yoga, you’ll begin to experience yoga as it was originally intended.

Because we teach yoga as mindfulness (as opposed to a type of exercise), we do not grade you in terms of your ability. Everyone is welcome, whether novice or experienced.

Gourmet Vegetarian Food

The food at Kaliyoga will delight and amaze you. Our gourmet vegetarian cuisine is light, gluten free, vegan/coeliac friendly and absolutely delicious. And with three generous meals per day, you will never go hungry. Our super talented chefs will happily cater for your nutritional requirements.

Things to see and do

Kaliyoga is located just 10 minutes away from the beautiful Baroque town of Martina Franca, which you can explore either on foot or by bicycle. Or for those who wish to simply lie in a hammock all week or swim in the pool, that’s fine too.

If you enjoy more exercise before or after your yoga class, you can go for a run along the country lanes or a bike ride up the steep hill to Locorotondo for some homemade stracciatella ice-cream.

One afternoon you have the opportunity to enjoy an inspiring cookery workshop on either ‘Raw Power Vegetarian Cuisine’ or Italian ‘Yogi-tarian’ Ayurvedic cuisine depending on chef availability.

The workshop is two hours in duration and focusses on the creation of a whole meal.

Meal examples include raw zucchini lasagna, veg stuffed gluten free pastry, raw blueberry cheesecake

When you return to Kaliyoga, you will be eligible for a free holistic relaxation session with the therapist of your choice, subject to availability.

Wednesday Free Time

After the Wednesday morning yoga class, we serve brunch which is a larger meal than the usual breakfast. Options for the rest of the day include a trip to a local beach (about 35 mins by car) where you can sunbathe & swim - depending on the weather, naturally. On cloudy days, we can arrange a trip to the lovely old towns of Polignano A Mare and Alberobello where you can shop, wander, and explore the many delights of the local Trullo architecture. Alternatively, you may borrow one of our bicycles and explore the country lanes, or walk into one of the two local Baroque towns (approx 20 mins walking). In the evening, we arrange a taxi to take you into Martina Franca (10-minute taxi ride) where you may dine at a delicious local restaurant. But if you prefer to stay at home and rest, we will provide you with a light evening meal.

Evenings

Evenings are your own to retreat or socialise as you wish. We have two sitting rooms for you to curl up and relax with a good book or go for an evening stroll with Tommy our lovely mountain dog.

On two evenings we offer optional chanting sessions in the Masseria's vaulted living room. The acoustic is out of this world.

Every morning and evening you will experience the same inspirational guided yoga classes as offered on our Mindful Vinyasa weeks, in our beautiful octagonal yoga studio, with optional meditation sessions offered pre-class three mornings per week.

With a raw food cleanse, lose weight and love your body, inside and out. Experience the magic of raw living food with three completely raw meals per day. The aim of this retreat is to give your body a rest from processed and convenience foods, re-energising your whole being with raw food power.

For 6 magical days, you will enjoy and learn how to prepare delicious raw meals at home. By the end of the week, you can expect to feel lean, clear headed and full of vim!

Location

Kaliyoga Italy is located in the stunning Itria Valley, one hour South of Bari, in the garden province of Puglia - voted for three years by National Geographic as the most beautiful place in the world. The Masseria Pavone is a farmhouse that dates back to the sixteenth century with either single, shared or double accommodation in lovingly restored ‘Trulli’ protected by UNESCO as heritage sights.

About this retreat

This retreat features two full day guided walks plus daily yoga classes and meditation sessions. The guided walks are suitable for anyone who enjoys walking and has the basic fitness to tackle undulating terrain ranging from easy hills to moderately challenging gradients.

One of the finest walking areas in southern Europe, the Alpujarra region is renowned for its waterfalls, gorges, Moorish villages & shaded valleys and it has been certified by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.

The first walk takes you through the beautiful landscape of the Sierra Lanjaron, guided by Sue, an experienced botanist, culminating in a homemade picnic lunch of gluten-free bread, salads & local cheeses at Sue's stunning mountain-top home.

The second walk is guided by Arantza, our meditation & yoga teacher. She takes you up a mountain trail to the stunning Tibetan Buddhist Monastery ‘O Sel Ling’. There you will find monuments of Buddha of Healing and Tara, the most powerful female goddess of the Buddhist tradition. The beauty of this place is awesome and Arantza’s knowledge and passion for the Buddhist tradition is deeply inspiring.

PLEASE NOTE: these walks are not suitable if you have high blood pressure, reduced mobility or are recovering from recent surgery or major illness. Also, the walks may not be appropriate if you suffer from severe vertigo.

 

Location

Kaliyoga Spain is located 1.5 hours from Malaga airport, in the stunning Sierra Nevada mountains, in the Alpujarra region of Granada province. The Alpujarras are renowned for its verdant microclimate, waterfalls, gorges, Moorish villages & shaded valleys. One of the finest walking areas in southern Europe, the Alpujarras have been certified by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.

In the mornings there will be a 2-hour yoga class, preceded by a guided half-hour meditation. On walking days, however, we skip the morning yoga session in favour of a hearty breakfast, returning in for a relaxing yoga session in the evening. The week culminates with a fun partner yoga session on Friday evening and a self-practice session on Saturday morning.

Because we teach yoga as mindfulness (as opposed to a type of exercise), we do not grade you in terms of your ability. Everyone is welcome, whether novice or experienced.

About this retreat

This retreat is all about coming home to yourself. Under the expert guidance of Lelly and Arantza, Kaliyoga’s longest standing yoga & meditation teachers, you will learn how to use your yoga practice as a tool not only for health and fitness but for deep rest and relaxation. Lelly has over 20 years experience as a teacher of Hatha yoga and delights in inspiring our guests to develop their own self-practice to take back home with them.

The method that she teaches can be applied to all styles of yoga as it concerns itself with the application of an internal dynamic of stability and ease rather than focusing solely on shape-making. Lelly is more interested in how we relate to what is going on inside of ourselves, rather than perfecting the external form. Under Lelly’s expert guidance you will experience yoga not merely as stretch exercise, but as profound meditation in motion.  As we teach a yoga method, rather than a style, we do not grade people in terms of ‘levels of ability’ - instead all are welcome, from total beginners to experienced practitioners.

There are three formal morning meditation sessions per week and 10 yoga classes (morning and evening) with a self-practice session on Saturday morning. When you are not doing yoga, you are welcome to sunbathe by the pool, read in a hammock, catch up on some guilt-free sleep, go for a walk in the beautiful Alpujarra mountains (walking guides can be arranged) or indulge in a session with one of our world-class holistic therapists who will inspire you to free yourself from the things that might be holding you back in your life. About the yoga and meditation

Our yoga method can be applied to all styles of yoga because, rather than focusing solely on stretching and shape-making, we teach you to balance your physical stability and strength with mindful tranquility. So, rather than trying to perfect the external shapes of yoga, you’ll begin to experience yoga as it was originally intended. In the mornings there will be a 2-hour yoga class, preceded by a guided half-hour meditation. The evening sessions are 1.5 hours. The week culminates with a fun partner yoga session on Friday evening and a self-practice session on Saturday morning. Because we teach yoga as mindfulness (as opposed to a type of exercise), we do not grade you in terms of your ability. Everyone is welcome, whether novice or experienced.

 

Gourmet Vegetarian Food

The food at Kaliyoga will delight and amaze you. Our gourmet vegetarian cuisine is light, gluten free, vegan/coeliac friendly and absolutely delicious. And with three copious meals per day, you will never go hungry. Our super talented chefs will happily cater for your nutritional requirements.

 

Time to yourself

You are welcome to sunbathe by the pool, read in a hammock, catch up on some guilt-free sleep, or go for a walk in the beautiful Alpujarra mountains (we have walking maps, or a walking guide can be arranged). If you want to sleep in and miss a yoga class, that’s fine too.

After the Wednesday morning yoga class we serve brunch, then you are free to do as you please. Options for the day include a trip to the local beach (about 35 mins by car) or a trip to the picturesque mountain village of Pampaneira and waterfall nearby.

Alternatively, you may wish to visit the stunning Alhambra Palace in Granada; or simply stay at Kaliyoga and enjoy a cookery workshop where the food you create will be served in the evening. Please note that kitchen space is limited to 8 people.

If you would prefer to dine out at a local restaurant, we can arrange a taxi to take you into Orgiva (10 min). If you’d prefer to rest at home, a light evening meal is available.

 

Evenings 

Evenings can be quite social, though if you prefer to be quiet, that’s ok too. There is a warm sitting room with a cosy snug to curl up in and relax with a good book; or why not go for an evening stroll in the countryside, or stroll into town (about 20 mins on foot).

Kaliyoga is located 10 minutes from the market town of Orgiva where you will find whole food & hippy shops, cafes and a bustling outdoor market on Thursday mornings. There is also horse riding, great mountain walks, Moorish white wash villages, beautiful beaches (35 mins drive) and paragliding for the adventurous. We are 50 minutes from the glittering Moorish city of Granada with its Alhambra Palace and Gypsy Flamenco quarter.

This retreat is all about coming home to yourself. Under the expert guidance of Lelly and Arantza, Kaliyoga’s longest standing yoga & meditation teachers, you will learn how to use your yoga practice as a tool not only for health and fitness but for deep rest and relaxation. Lelly has over 20 years experience as a teacher of Hatha yoga and delights in inspiring our guests to develop their own self-practice to take back home with them.

The method that she teaches can be applied to all styles of yoga as it concerns itself with the application of an internal dynamic of stability and ease rather than focusing solely on shape-making. Lelly is more interested in how we relate to what is going on inside of ourselves, rather than perfecting the external form. Under Lelly’s expert guidance you will experience yoga not merely as stretch exercise, but as profound meditation in motion.  As we teach a yoga method, rather than a style, we do not grade people in terms of ‘levels of ability’ - instead all are welcome, from total beginners to experienced practitioners.

There are three formal morning meditation sessions per week and 10 yoga classes (morning and evening) with a self-practice session on Saturday morning. When you are not doing yoga, you are welcome to sunbathe by the pool, read in a hammock, catch up on some guilt-free sleep, go for a walk in the beautiful Alpujarra mountains (walking guides can be arranged) or indulge in a session with one of our world-class holistic therapists who will inspire you to free yourself from the things that might be holding you back in your life. About this retreat

This is a deeply relaxing and invigorating retreat that focuses on Yoga and a diet of high vibration living foods including raw, steamed & superfoods to enhance health and energy. Raw food in your daily diet can help with long-term weight management.

You will be introduced to a wide variety of superfoods which are nutrient-rich to delight the palate and nurture your body, including spirulina, maca, hemp, acai, chia, bee pollen & barley grass.

We share with you up-to-date nutritional facts about foods that supercharge your immune system, as well as foods that boost your mood and energy levels. The raw superfood diet promotes long-term weight control and helps reduce cravings. Our chef welcomes you to watch and learn in the kitchen.

 

Good Preparation

To make the most of your raw food retreat we recommend that you follow a healthy diet for 7 days before arrival, cutting out or at least reducing all meat, dairy, wheat, alcohol, coffee, refined sugar, potatoes and processed foods. Prepare your meals at home based on fruit, vegetables, eggs, whole grains, rice cakes, organic fish, avocados, nuts, seeds, tahini.

About the yoga and meditation

Under the expert guidance of our fabulous in-house teachers, you will discover that yoga can be a tool not only for improving health and fitness but also for deep rest and mindful relaxation.

During the week we give you the tools and confidence to build a self-practice that you can develop at home. Our yoga method can be applied to all styles of yoga because, rather than focusing solely on stretching and shape-making, we teach you to balance your physical stability and strength with mindful tranquility. So, rather than trying to perfect the external shapes of yoga, you’ll begin to experience yoga as meditation in motion.

In the mornings there will be a 2-hour yoga class, preceded by a guided half-hour meditation and in the evenings 1.5 hours. The week culminates with a fun partner yoga session on Friday evening and a self-practice session on Saturday morning.

Because we teach yoga as mindfulness (as opposed to a type of exercise), we do not grade you in terms of your ability. Everyone is welcome, whether novice or experienced.

 

Gourmet Food 

The food at Kaliyoga will delight and amaze you. You will feast on raw cuisine every day and you can expect super taste sensations from simple ingredients. Culinary highlights include healthy snack ideas, sinfully delicious desserts, and raw chocolate. With three generous meals per day, you will never go hungry. Time to yourself

You are welcome to sunbathe by the pool, read in a hammock, catch up on some guilt-free sleep, or go for a walk in the beautiful Alpujarra mountains (we have walking maps, or a walking guide can be arranged). If you want to sleep-in and miss a yoga class, that’s fine too.

Alternatively, you may wish to visit the stunning Alhambra Palace in Granada; or simply stay at Kaliyoga and enjoy a cookery workshop where the food you create will be served in the evening. Please note that kitchen space is limited to 8 people.

If you would prefer to dine out at a local restaurant, we can arrange a taxi to take you into Orgiva (10 min). If you’d prefer to rest at home, a light evening meal is available.

We are 50 minutes from the glittering Moorish city of Granada with its Alhambra Palace and Gypsy Flamenco quarter.

New Year Retreat in Andalucia, Spain

About this retreat

This retreat combines Yoga and hill walking with healthy gourmet vegetarian cuisine in gorgeous surroundings.

The hikes are for anyone who has a reasonably active lifestyle and enjoys walking. During this week you will have 2 full days of hill walking in the beautiful landscape of the Alpujarra region with its waterfalls, gorges, Moorish villages & shaded valleys.

You'll be walking for 2-3 hours per day on undulating terrain ranging from reasonably challenging gradients to moderately easy up and downhill. Although this region is one of the finest walking areas in Europe and has been certified by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve, you don't need to be an athlete and there are some paved sections as well. In the evening when you return there is a restorative yoga session and then supper.

The other days include daily yoga sessions (2 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours in the evening), with plenty of time for therapies, rest, and relaxation in between. On Wednesday afternoon there will be an option for an Andalusian cultural excursion.

About the yoga and meditation

Under the expert guidance of our fabulous in-house teachers, you will discover that yoga can be a tool not only for improving health and fitness but also for deep rest and mindful relaxation.

During the week we give you the tools and confidence to build a self-practice that you can develop at home. Our yoga method can be applied to all styles of yoga because, rather than focusing solely on stretching and shape-making, we teach you to balance your physical stability and strength with mindful tranquility. So, rather than trying to perfect the external shapes of yoga, you’ll begin to experience yoga as meditation in motion.

In the mornings there will be a 2-hour yoga class, preceded by a guided half-hour meditation and in the evenings 1.5 hours. The week culminates with a fun partner yoga session on Friday evening and a self-practice session on Saturday morning.

Because we teach yoga as mindfulness (as opposed to a type of exercise), we do not grade you in terms of your ability. Everyone is welcome, whether novice or experienced.

 

Gourmet Vegetarian Food 

The food at Kaliyoga will delight and amaze you. Our gourmet vegetarian cuisine is light, gluten free, vegan/coeliac friendly and absolutely delicious. And with three copious meals per day, you will never go hungry. Our super talented chefs will happily cater for your nutritional requirements.

 

Time to yourself

You are welcome to use the outdoor facilities at any time : infra-red sauna, solar-heated swimming pool (temperature depends on the sun!) Or read in a hammock, catch up on some guilt-free sleep, or go for a walk in the beautiful Alpujarra mountains (we have walking maps, or a walking guide can be arranged) although there are two days of guided walking included on this retreat. If you want to sleep in and miss a yoga class, that’s fine too.

We are delighted to introduce you to our hand-picked team of world-class holistic therapists, available every afternoon to attend to your needs. They can help you to free yourself from whatever might be holding you back; and most importantly of all, the powerful combination of yoga classes and holistic therapy sessions re-connect you with the wonderful person that you really are, rather than who you think you ‘should’ be.

When you return to Kaliyoga, you will be eligible for a free holistic relaxation session with the therapist of your choice, subject to availability.

 

Wednesday: Free Day

After the Wednesday morning yoga class we serve brunch, then you are free to do as you please. Options for the day include a trip to the local beach (about 35 mins by car) or a trip to the picturesque mountain village of Pampaneira and waterfall nearby.

Alternatively, you may wish to visit the stunning Alhambra Palace in Granada; or simply stay at Kaliyoga and enjoy a cookery workshop where the food you create will be served in the evening. Please note that kitchen space is limited to 8 people.

If you would prefer to dine out at a local restaurant, we can arrange a taxi to take you into Orgiva (10 min). If you’d prefer to rest at home, a light evening meal is available.

 

Evenings 

Evenings can be quite social, though if you prefer to be quiet, that’s ok too. There is a warm sitting room with a cosy snug to curl up in and relax with a good book; or why not go for an evening stroll in the countryside, or stroll into town (about 20 mins on foot).

 

Things to see and do

Kaliyoga is located 10 minutes from the market town of Orgiva where you will find whole food & hippy shops, cafes and a bustling outdoor market on Thursday mornings. There is also horse riding, great mountain walks, Moorish white wash villages, beautiful beaches (35 mins drive) and paragliding for the adventurous. We are 50 minutes from the glittering Moorish city of Granada with its Alhambra Palace and Gypsy Flamenco quarter.

About this retreat

This retreat combines Yoga and hill walking with healthy gourmet vegetarian cuisine in gorgeous surroundings.

The hikes are for anyone who has a reasonably active lifestyle and enjoys walking. During this week you will have 2 full days of hill walking in the beautiful landscape of the Alpujarra region with its waterfalls, gorges, Moorish villages & shaded valleys.

You'll be walking for 2-3 hours per day on undulating terrain ranging from reasonably challenging gradients to moderately easy up and downhill. Although this region is one of the finest walking areas in Europe and has been certified by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve, you don't need to be an athlete and there are some paved sections as well. In the evening when you return there is a restorative yoga session and then supper.

The other days include daily yoga sessions (2 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours in the evening), with plenty of time for therapies, rest, and relaxation in between. On Wednesday afternoon there will be an option for an Andalusian cultural excursion.

This retreat was also a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded people and form ties with them. The contrast between our tense drawn faces and stiff bodies when we arrived and the sparkling expressions when we left was quite revealing of the release and joy experienced during the initiation.
